The Victorian Government have brought out a new rebate to encourage small business to take on PV Solar and offset their operational expenses while having a positive impact on the environment.

What Is It?

While it is named a rebate, it is more a reduction in the initial cost of installing solar on your small businesses premises. We say this because the rebate comes off the price of the solar and the installer has to claim the value, not the customer. 

The beauty is, it makes your life as a customer easier. 

It will cover $3,500 or 50% of the total costs of the install, whatever is the lesser value. 

Note, it is additional to the existing state government STC program. 

When Can You Get it?

The rebate is being rolled out from May 2021. There have been 15,000 rebates allocated and 3 years to roll it out. If the allocation is exhausted early, there will be no extension or additional rebates added that we know about. 

How Do You Get It?

If you meet the Eligibility criteria below, as long as you install a new solar system from May 2021 forward you can get it. All you need to do is speak to your retailer and they can help you with the application process. It is very simple.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be the owner of a business which has less than 20 employees    
  • Operate from premises that are not considered residential    
  • Operate from premises that are individually metered   
  • Have your system installed by a Solar Homes approved solar retailer
  • Install a solar system with a PV capacity size up to 30kW with approved products

This is a true rebate that is administered by the state government. Getting solar for your small business already makes a lot of sense to help offset your OPEX and reduce your bills so if you can get a rebate to reduce the cost, it’s a no brainer!
