When the NSW State Government announced the Empowering Homes Program, to say we were excited would be an understatement. Meaningful impact from the Government that gives consumers flexibility and choice is a great thing.
In this page we are going to cover everything you need to know about the Empowering Homes Solar Battery Loan Offer. This is an ever changing program so we will keep this page as up to date as the program changes.
The Empowering Homes Program is a NSW Government backed interest free loan to help people get access to and pay for Renewable Energy for their own homes.Â
There are two key options available within the program.Â
If your system costs less than the above interest free caps then you just finance less. If your system costs more, you get the interest free loan up to the cap then either finance the additional amount at a normal rate or pay for the difference your self.Â
It’s that simple!
The Government put the program together to make storing and generating solar power more affordable.Â
The program delivery partner is the ASX listed company Plenti (PLT).
Firstly, you need to meet the eligibility criteria which we cover off below. If you aren’t sure or get stuck, reach out and we can help you out.
Then, if you meet the criteria you need to get a quote. There are currently 10 approved retailers on the program and we can help you pick the right one.Â
Once you have got a quote and are happy to proceed you need to go to the Plenti website (currently this is the link) and retrieve your quote. The details will be on your quote.Â
Once retrieved you can then proceed through the Plenti loan application.Â
Like most financial products, you need to meet the normal criteria to get credit.Â
Once approved the retailer who supplied the quote will be in touch to arrange installation.
It is that easy!
After installation, Plenti will give you a phone call to make sure everything is ok!
One great part of the Empowering Homes Program is the Flexibility.Â
If you already have solar and want a battery you aren’t penalised. You can still access the program to retrofit a battery.
The first reason the program is worth considering is, it is truly an interest free product. This isn’t a TV at Harvey Norman. It is a financial product were the State Government pays any interest so the vendor Plenti can offer consumers a true, 100% interest free loan (up to the above limits of course).Â

Yes! You can combine both at the same time so long as you meet the criteria for both.Â
All you need to do is, get a quote from an approved retailer. We can help with that. Accept the quote on Plenti’s website and then fill out Plenti’s application form. Once approved the retailer will call you.Â
